Dear Family & Friends of The Village at Brookwood:
The safety and well-being of those we serve – and serve with – have been, and remain, our highest priority during what has now been declared a national emergency. The Village at Brookwood utilizes best practices and protocols on our campus and in our healthcare to address communicable diseases such as influenza and norovirus. The new coronavirus presents additional challenges to keep our community healthy and safe.
Over the past few weeks, The Village at Brookwood along with the Well-Spring Group and Cone Health have been monitoring the spread of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19. Equipped with the best understanding of the coronavirus that we have to date from various national and international sources – such as the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), U.S. State Department, North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, the Alamance County Health Department and Cone Health – our team is working diligently to take the appropriate steps to reduce exposure to the coronavirus in our Life Plan Community and contain it should that occur.
We are continuously and closely monitoring the ever-changing federal and state communications related to our programs and services. These evolving directives have required cooperation and understanding from all our constituents – especially families and visitors.
We have launched a ***NO VISITATION*** restriction at our Life Plan Community, effective at 8 a.m. on Monday, March 16. This new restriction will apply to our entire campus, including Independent Living and Healthcare. The singular exception will be made for loved ones of residents having a medical necessity or who are receiving hospice care and/or experiencing active end of life. It is vital to our success that all of our constituents abide by this NO VISITATION restriction.
In addition, effective March 18, our dining venues will be closed until further notice and replaced with a meal delivery program to ensure that our residents have accessibility to meals throughout the duration of this restriction. This action is in response to the most recent direction from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), U.S. State Department, and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), to cease all gatherings of 10 or more people.
As we continue our efforts to protect against and contain the virus, The Village at Brookwood will implement additional measures as needed to protect everyone we serve – and serve with – here on our campus. No matter what these measures may entail, please know they are simply to ensure the safety and well-being of those who have entrusted us to do just that.
We appreciate the cooperation, support and understanding of those we care for, their families and friends as well as our terrific staff. We ask that you please continue to work together with us to help mitigate any risks to our constituents during these unprecedented times. Thank you!
