Learn More About the Six Dimensions of Wellness
Being emotionally well is more than just handling stress. It’s the ability to understand your feelings and cope with the challenges life can bring. The ability to acknowledge and share these feelings allows you to achieve greater emotional stability and better enjoy the journey.
Lifestyle choices that help maintain or improve health and fitness can often lead to living longer. The combination of physical activity and healthy eating, while avoiding harmful habits, can help keep you looking good and provide greater self-esteem and a sense of direction.
Achieving your highest level of intellectual wellness requires stimulating activities such as creative endeavors, problem-solving and reasoning. Being open to new ideas and experiences, applying what you’ve learned, and sharing your gifts with others are all ways to keep engaged with the world around you.
This refers to your ability to interact with people around you. It involves using good communication skills; building healthy relationships; respecting others; and creating a support system with family, friends and peers – all of which help combat feelings of isolation and loneliness.
It’s important to do what you love and love what you do. Using your abilities and talents helps you stay productive and satisfied. Making use of your talents – whether to create something or to help someone – can help you feel a greater sense of purpose and happiness.
The path to spiritual wellness is personal. While different people may have different views, spiritualism is generally considered to be the search for meaning and purpose. It leads one to strive for a state of harmony with oneself and others while working to balance inner needs with the rest of the world.
