April Mayberry
Executive Director
April grew up in a small rural town the mountains of North Carolina in and now resides in Greensboro with her family. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy from Western Carolina University and has been serving older adults for over 25 years. Her journey in healthcare began in the for-profit industry with Genesis Healthcare which included Recreation Therapy Director, Behavioral Health Director, and Associate Administrator before becoming a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator in 2011. In 2019, April joined The Village at Brookwood in Burlington, NC, as the Director of Health Services. In 2022, she was promoted to Executive Director.
April is active in her community and serves on several boards including Access Dental, a not-for-profit organization that provides quality special care services and community dentistry to medically, intellectually, and physically disabled individuals throughout NC. She is also a member of The Anatomical Gift Program Board of Advisors for Elon University. April has made it her mission to serve aging adults and to provide experiences that exceed the needs of an evolving and diverse population of older adults.
Cindy Kroksh
Director of Nursing
Cindy joined The Village at Brookwood team in 2017. She has worked in long-term care since 1981 and has held the position of director of nursing since 1985. Cindy is a graduate of Watts Hospital School of Nursing and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Mars Hill College.
Arthur J. Gardiner
Director of Dining Services
Arthur has studied under chefs around the Greater Greensboro, Burlington and Coastal Carolina regions. He interned at Well-Spring Retirement Community where he learned the important role dining services plays in a retirement community. Arthur learned to cook by watching his father make something out of nothing in his home kitchen. He finds that quality ingredients and simple preparation are the keys to great cuisine. Arthur holds the high honor of Eagle Scout. He joined The Village at Brookwood team in November 2015.
Cary Hinely
Director of Facilities Services
Part of Alamance Regional Medical Center’s plant operations since 1997, Cary joined the facility services leadership team when The Village at Brookwood was being built in 2003.
Michelle burger
Director of resident services
Michelle joined The Village of Brookwood in April 2024. She has worked as a community servant throughout her career, beginning in the Parks and Recreation field before transitioning to serving residents in continuing care retirement communities. Michelle is a graduate of NC State University, and holds a master’s degree in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management. She enjoys making meaningful connections with residents and providing opportunities for connection throughout the community.
Betsy Huneycutt
Director of Sales & Marketing
After working in sales and marketing in the textile industry for twenty years, Betsy joined The Village at Brookwood in 2016 as a sales counselor. She has been the Director of Marketing and Sales since early 2020.
Betsy was born in Burlington – and she, her husband and children attended The Village at Brookwood’s neighborhood schools, Hillcrest Elementary, The Burlington School, Turrentine Middle School, and Williams High School. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in communications studies from UNC-Greensboro.
Betsy currently serves on the Alamance ElderCare board of directors. She enjoys playing handbells at Front Street United Methodist Church in Burlington and volunteers with the Booster Club at Williams High School.
Pamela TERRY
Human Resources gENERALIST
Pamela joined The Village in 2022. She started her career in retail and then moved into the corporate world. She says that “I’ve held a few titles but Human Resources is the best.” She holds an Associates Degree in Business Administration from Alamance Community College and pursued additional studies at UNCG.
Lynette Hinely
BUSINESS OFFICE MANAGER
Lynette joined The Village team in 2014 after working with the Alamance Regional Medical Center/Cone Patient Financial Services team. She has more than 30 years of health care business office experience. She says that working with residents on their business office needs is the favorite part of her role at The Village.
