Dear Family & Friends of The Village at Brookwood:

On Friday of last week, Alamance County reported its first case of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19 – a number that has now increased, as of this morning, to three cases.

As we maintain our focus to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of our residents and staff as our number one priority, it is critical to minimize person-to-person contact. That being said, it is now imperative that we take additional steps to safeguard against a case of COVID-19 finding its way onto our campus – and to contain it if that occurs.

Aside from the preventative measures that we announced on March 18 which are posted on the news page of our website,, we are adding the following protocols Effective Wednesday, March 25 at 7:00am that will remain in effect until further notice:

  • We will be restricting traffic to one entry/exit point, the intersection of Rockwood and Brookwood Avenues located on the west side of our campus. The entry/exit points of Hermitage Road and Brookwood Avenue on the east side as well as the delivery/employee access on Edgewood Avenue on the south side of our campus will be CLOSED. The ONLY people allowed on our campus will be residents, employees and visitors of medical necessity (caregivers, pharmacy, etc.).
  • We will begin screening all people allowed to enter our campus at the entry/exit point at Rockwood and Brookwood Avenues. The screening procedure includes a questionnaire and temperature checks via oral thermometer.
  • We will perform wellness screenings for each of our residents at their residence. These wellness screens will take place per scheduled days, times and locations (apartment floors or streets).
  • We are suspending ALL activities on campus and asking that residents remain in their residences as much as possible. This will minimize person-to-person contact and reduce risk of exposure. Our team is working diligently to create virtual activities that residents will be able to view and participate in from the safety of their residence. These virtual activities will include weekly updates on our campus response to COVID-19, departmental updates, and some fun activities encouraging resident participation.

As always, thank you for your cooperation and support as we navigate these challenging times. We will continue to monitor this Pandemic and respond in our community’s best interest. We are all in this together.
